Have you ever had too much photos in your gallery that you felt as if you needed one that is really artistic? Well, that was me last week. In my gallery, I have too much snapshots of times with friends, family and my friends so I considered getting the perfect portrait!
When you’re in such a situation, then also go for the perfect portrait! You’ll need the best photographer to give you portrait you’ll forever love! So what’s a portrait? It is an artistic photograph of a person that captures the personality of the person candidly while making the face and its expression come out so predominantly. You’ll need a portrait to display your personality and even your mood.
At the moment, it is very sunny here in Kenya that it will be as hard to spot green anywhere but during one of the mentorship sessions I had at Graceland Girls High School, I was given a huge shock by the amount of green there! So frankly, I had to get a mark from there. And I got my outdoor portrait picture there! Perfecto!
I had the moment to appreciate myself for bringing Dalene Ekirapa- The Quintessence of Life and Style this far! I thank God. You’d wanna know? Then ride along…
Why I Blog?
I blog with the main aim of inspiring the style of ladies through sharing my style and others’ style too. I had too much to do in order to embrace and love my petite shape but I’m glad I did and got to dress myself. For a fact, many people loved my style and wouldn’t hesitate to compliment it; my friends even had a share of my clothes, and if they were too lenient, I’d help them shop for the same. So that was when the idea of sharing my style came up.
I also aim to inspire my readers through interviews with personnel in the fashion, travel and lifestyle industry. At times, we all need motivation, and inspiration; not just from anyone but from authoritative people in the industry. At least, Lucia Musau of the Kenyan Fashionado was there to inspire me and I promise, one day, I’ll feature her here.
I’m a lover of travel and adventure thus I’d love to share with you my getaways too. Especially how I dress when off to these getaways lovelies.
How I Started Dalene Ekirapa
I am the only daughter among 4 brothers so I grew up like a tomboy who was a movie geek so I got this girly influence from my girlfriends after high school where I had to try and act more like a girl. You can read this from my story .
That’s when I started dressing my tall and slim shape.
I launched Dalene Ekirapa on WordPress on a free plan with the few pictures I had taken using my Infinix phone camera. And indeed, WordPress has proven to be easy to work with. This was on January 27, 2017. Blogging was fun at the start since I was doing what I loved and for fun as well.
I blogged till April and went MIA. I mean, missing in action! Curious why? I’ll tell you. I used my Samsung Galaxy Tab A to blog so when it crashed, my efforts were brought to a halt, though my dreams weren’t. People will always note when you go missing and this could make them not take you seriously.
So, you want to blog with going MIA?
- Have a reliable gadget that you’ll use to blog.
Many bloggers use laptops since it supports much blogging tools, but a smartphone could also be useful for a beginner. At the moment, I am also using my laptop and it is way too efficient for sure.
- Have a reliable source of network connectivity.
Blogging will require you to be online mostly, be it researching, posting or promoting. Thus, a reliable network will work to your advantage allowing you to do all this.
- Be ready to invest your time and money in blogging.
You’ll need time to research for posts( be it through observation, brainstorming or surfing through the net). You’ll need time to draft your posts ,write them, edit them and promote them too.
As well, you’ll need money for your gadgets, internet connections, great photographs (and nice clothes) if your blog is more visual, hosting your blog, promoting it at times through paid means and much more.
So, before you start a blog, please consider your passion for your particular niche, it will drive you through the tough times as well as the resources at hand.
What I Did During My MIA Time
‘Work with what you have, when you have it, and when it’s not there, work for what you had, if you still want to have it again‘ – that was my grandma’s favorite saying and I love it.
Thus, during my MIA time, I didn’t just sit and hope for the best. Since I was on my school break, I dwelt on research: reading magazines, successful fashion, travel and lifestyle blogs, watching fashion shows and v-logs and much observation. After all, I drafted posts and will sharing them in 8 specified categories which are:
- Hair, Beauty and Lifestyle
- Dalene’s Sauce
- Fashion Cues
- Meet The Experts
- Shop with Dalene
- Guest Posts and Collaborations.
From my blogger family, I learnt that writing should take 20% of your time while promoting of your posts should take 80%. Thus, I joined blogger support groups which have really helped me grow my blog as well as my social media sites. Some of them are Bloggers United, The Blog Nest, Blogging For New Bloggers and much more. Too tiredmuch gratitude goes to my Blogger Family on Facebook.
Currently, I’m hosting with Siteground and so far, I’m loving the experience. Antony Agnel was the designer for my site and for sure, he did a good job for me. In case you’ll need his services, feel free to contact him.
Blogging requires dedication to your specific niche so that you can stand out and make the most of it. I blog on Fashion, travel and lifestyle. I’m really promising to give you more my faithful readers and I can say that I’ve had a lot to learn from a number of bloggers that I’d want to shout out. The ultimate beauty Youtuber , fashion, travel and style blogger here in Kenya as well. If there’s someone I know who can dress her curvy shape too well, then she is Joy Kendi! Her blog has an absolutely beautiful layout and what I love so much about her photographs are the fantastic background they bear. She’ll always be in beautiful places for her shoot. You will love it!
And yes, those are my ultimate blogging icons. I’m sure you’ll be loving them by the time you stumble upon their blogs. Glad I’ve shared their links with you. Anyway, that’s the story behind Dalene Ekirapa!
