Welcome back to the #COLORCRUSH series and today on the blog, I decided to feature a client I was privileged to dress. For the last one year, I’ve been lucky to work as Rachael’s personal stylist and I’m sure you love her looks as I’ve posted two of them here. I’ve also been lucky since she does my makeup always and I love how naturally she does it.
In the past times, I get her measurements then go shop for her a full ensemble before bringing it to her. She’s been loving that but this time I decided to tag her along for the shopping.
HOW TO SPOT NAVY BLUE
It was the British Royal color for the Navy uniforms.
It is a color signed to authoritative figures.
It is one of the men’s color crushes.
Beyond black and white, it is another versatile shade to add to your closet.
Well lovelies, call it navy blue!
Navy blue is such a laid-back color. It is a dark shade of blue; I mean, it is blue but with more black.
NAVY BLUE COMES BEST IN?
Navy blue is such a decent shade of blue that is more laid back and usually, many designers consider making statement pieces out of the color. I mean, outfits that stand out leaving the color to be the center of attraction. This could be in form of just but anything but of course, I’ve seen more outer wear like navy coats, trousers, skirts and dresses in navy blue.
Most importantly, navy looks perfect for accessories like hats, belts, gloves, scarves, shoes and bags. For instance: A navy blue leather bag will also be the best pick for any modern woman just as a navy blue shoe would fit into any man’s shoe closet.
HOW TO WEAR NAVY BLUE
It is very important to know how to pair navy blue. Since it is such a silent yet sleek color, too much consideration should be put into thoughts when wearing the color.
I sincerely love the navy blue because it is a really confident color that can be worn alone it alone or with numerous other colors and it always remains an elegant backdrop or centerpiece. I mean, If you want to stand out in navy blue, then wear it as the only statement piece. For example a dress in navy blue will be the perfect option on a date night. One can also opt for statement outer wear like a navy blue sweater or coat for that stand-out effect.
As well, it will be too sassy to embrace monochromatic navy. Get perfect tailored pieces for your navy blue for a really polished effect. Who would really resist a properly tailored navy blue suit?
Some of us will love blocking navy blue with other colors. Well, a maximum of two to three primary colors will be enough for a perfect ensemble. Anyway, I always advise for two colors. For instance: pairing navy blue with a neutral color like black or white; or with just one bold color like navy blue and a flashy red for that sensational look.
For the very outgoing fashion lover, adopt prints for your navy. The leopard prints and animal prints could also go well with your navy as long as you obviously avoid wearing too many shades.
Most importantly, it is important to be mindful of where we buy our navy. The color is dull so when shopping, find polished pieces in the color. You wouldn’t love an already laid back dull fabric in navy, right? Because for a fact, it would seem very boring.
ACCESSORIZING NAVY BLUE
Perfect accessories will be perfect for such a dull color as navy blue. Opt for bold accessories like red that will instantly elevate your navy blue look leaving you looking stunning.
As well, go for metallic and turn your look into the goddess style as soon. If you’re already tired of doing so much silver, then get so much gold. Rachael went for golden accessories for her navy blue dress. From the choker, to her hand bracelets and to her pair of earrings. She looks too hot, right?
HOW RACHAEL WORE HER NAVY BLUE
We all love date nights, right? And truly, ladies love showing off skin for a sexy yet sleek effect. When Rachael told me about her date, I wanted her to go for a really sexy and sophisticated look. Why did I go for navy blue? Well, the color is dull and sleek thus would tone down the sexy appeal of the strapless tulip dress I chose for her.
The dress had a nice chain band in gold that obviously meant that we had to get golden accessories to finish off her look. She also wore pair of blue platform heels and her look was complete.
