    I have always thought of velvet to be very elegant and being such a hard material to work with, always expensive. I do like satin dresses as well, especially for dresses wore in summer formal events.

    Wow! This brings back so many memories. As a teen, I use to sew my own clothes. I really enjoyed going into the many fabric shops and picking out some cloth then at some point I would sew a dress and if it was a very special occasion I would get a shoe covered in the same material. I used satin a lot.
